The foundations of Structural Biology in India were laid by late Professor G. N. Ramachandran, F.R.S. when he founded the well known Madras School of Biophysics at the Department of Crystallography and Biophysics, University of Madras in 1952. We are pleased to inform you that 2012 happens to be the 60th year of the formation of the department and also the 100th year of Laue’s discovery; we would like to celebrate this occasion in a grand manner. We are announcing herewith the 5th International Symposium on Recent Trends in Macromolecular Structure and Function (ISRTMSF-2012) being organized by the department during January, 23rd - 25th (Monday - Wednesday) 2012 for the occasion and we solicit your cooperation and support as extended during the previous symposium. |

Venue: Triple Helix Auditorium, Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Adyar, Chennai – 600 020 The symposium is open to all researchers who are interested, from both within and outside the country. In order to help us to organize better, we request you to send a copy of the attached registration form along with the Registration fee (separate DD to be drawn in favour of Dr. D. Velmurugan, Convener payable at State Bank of India, Chennai) as early as possible, and in any case before 15th December, 2011. Abstracts: Please send two copies of the abstracts, printed using a laser or inkjet printer on A4 size paper, leaving a margin of at least 3 cms on all sides. The size of the type should allow a 50% reduction and still be legible. Figures, if any should also be accommodated within this space. Please send your abstracts by e-mail below mentioned. The last date for submission of abstracts is 15th December, 2011. All submitted abstracts will be reviewed before acceptance. A small number among the abstracts received will be chosen for oral presentation. Registration Fee Registration Fee - Rs. 1,000/- (before the last date) and Rs. 1,500/- (after last date and for spot registration)

Posters must include introduction, aims&objectives, methods, observations, results, discussion & conclusions. Please prepare your poster according to the size of the poster board. The size of the poster board is 1.0 m (height) x 0.9 m (width). Presenting authors will be informed about the acceptance of their abstracts for the poster session by the 3rd week of December, 2011. Poster session is scheduled on January 23, 2012 between 12.45 hrs to 15.45 hrs.
Posters have to be in-place by 12.00 noon on January 23, 2012. The presenters are requested to be near their poster during the time of presentation.
